The Tampa Museum of Art is a museum located at 120 W Gasparilla Plaza, Tampa, FL 33602. It houses more than 70,000 works of art across eight galleries. The main building was designed by architect César Pelli and opened in 2007. A $70 million expansion was completed in May 2016. The Museums History

The Tampa Museum of Art is a museum that was founded in 1913. It was originally located on the campus of the University of Tampa. In 1972, the museum moved to its current location in downtown Tampa. In 1986 a $4 million expansion was completed and the museum’s galleries doubled in size. In 2007 a $70 million expansion was completed which added a new wing to the museum and reopened the courtyard gardens. New outdoor sculpture garden – The outdoor sculpture garden is a major addition to the Tampa Museum of Art campus. The garden features a series of two-story concrete structures that house a variety of works of art. The garden was designed by architecture firm Smith Richards | Partners.

The Collections at the Museum

In addition to its permanent collections, the Tampa Museum of Art also hosts traveling exhibitions and programs.
